Your Introduction to Adventure!

WHERE:
Through the town of Orleans & the breath-taking gorge, about 8 water-miles downriver to Big Bar. You will see deep shady fern grottos, waterfalls, and you'll stop to view wild animal tracks on one of the gorge beaches. Tell your guide what you are especially interested in; his priority is your enjoyment!
WHEN:
We'll leave the park about 9:30 a.m. and return about 1:30 p.m.
WHAT TO TAKE:
We strongly recommend that you pack along a bottle of drinking water per person; sunblock, a hat, sunglasses (and retainers for these). A single-use waterproof camera is advised (or enclose your own in a heavy-weight zippered plastic bag.) A lunch stop is made during the trip so you'll want to pack your own meal, or ask the market deli or the cafe to make a "box lunch" for you. Be sure to enclose your meal in waterproof plastic.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Shorts and a shirt or swimwear are appropriate, and secure sandals or casual footwear (thongs are not advised as they are slippery when wet, and our take-out point is rocky). Because our rafts are self-bailers, they permit on-take of water as well as out-flow. You WILL get wet. Dangling jewelry and sharp objects of any kind (such as metal buckles) are NOT permitted.
RESERVATIONS:
May be made at the Park Office, or call (530) 627-3239
